Daniel Lipson

I started making guitars in 2013, 12 years ago. The first was a birthday present for my oldest son, built with Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood. Entirely handmade with a single chisel and hand-plane it took me over 400 hours!

Since then my process has evolved significantly but I still spend an average of 200 hours on each instrument - they are truly a labour of love.

In 2018 I was fortunate to meet Pete Howlett, legendary Master Luthier and World renowned ukulele maker. Over the past 7 years Pete has taken me under his wing, mentoring and guiding me and over the years I have spent several months at his workshop in Talysarn, North Wales assisting him with his ukulele making. Training under him I am proud to have worked on both his acoustic instruments and on many of the ‘Revelator’ models that have left his workshop.

My objective as a maker is simple: to build the best sounding, playing and aesthetically pleasing instruments that it is possible for me to build. The unique design of my instruments delivers extraordinary resonance, tone, volume and headroom. They are also beautiful.

Each guitar I build is individually designed with and for you, my client. No two will ever be the same.

Each ukulele I build is a continuation of Pete Howlett’s legacy - bringing our instruments and innovations to the ukulele playing community.
